Science

 Hi,

In Science we needed to pick one of the famous scientist, and I found Alfred Nobel so I started researching about him, he was known to be the inventor of the dynamite explosive device. I have done my research in a google drawing and here is it.

Social Studies Infographic

 Hi,

In Social Studies we learned about Elected Government and we needed to make an infographic and we needed to use Canva or Pictochart. So I did my work using canva and it was a new thing to me and I needed to learn how to use it, Pictochart was also new to me but still choose canva because I think it was easier here is the infographic that I have done.

Making A Mars Rover

Hi,

In Hurumanu 3 science we tried making a Mars Rover using pastas and Round mints. So what we had to do first was to plan what would the mars rover would look like before we actually make it we draw it on a piece of paper and draw some ideas for the rover. After a few minutes we started making the rover then we put the parts together with my group. We used glues to put the parts together and stick it the challenge to us was to make the wheels move it took us a lot of time to think of how the wheels is going to move. The last part that we had done was do the challenge was trying the car and putting it on the 1m down ramp it didn't work quite right because the wheels broke here is some of the photos that was taken during the making of the rover.

Earthquake

 Hi,

In Hurumanu 1 we searched about the 2011 Earthquake that happened in Christchurch. What we have to do is pick some places in Christchurch and research about the earthquake and what is looked like before and what it looks like after. We did this activity in a site called Book Creator we have to choose 3 places that we wanted to research about here is what I have done.

Hurumanu Drama

Hi,
In Hurumanu I have wrote a letter to the character from the story. In this activity we could choose what were doing we can either do filming or write a letter to the character. So I wrote a letter from a scene that is saying that I am sorry because the story scene is that the the kid almost drowned. Here is the letter that I have made.

Hi My name is Benny and I am sorry if your son nearly drowned in the beach.
I am asking for forgiveness. All I was trying to do was try to save your son but
not trying to drown him. His kayak got tipped over because of me.
I was pushing my friend to the water
to get more splash but I did it at the wrong timing. I am so sorry Mam for your
son. I hope you and your son are doing well now.
                                                                               From: Benny

Bok Choy

Hi,
In Hurumanu I have readed about Bok Choy so when we finish reading Bok Choy we have to answer some questions about Bok Choy. What I have done is put all the question in the slide and put my answers in it here is what I have done.

Maths

Hi,
In Hurumanu maths we have learned about the Bar graph so I have made a Bar Graph using google drawing to show you how does the Bar graph look like. So I have made a Bar Graph that shows how many people likes colour. Here is the Bar graph that shows the most picked colour and it is very easy to see because it is the most highest. The most lowest is also easy to see because it is the lowest colour that got chosen.

This is how you make a Bar Graph first you put the numbers then you have to write the word number at the side. Then write at the bottom of what you want to do like the most picked colour or other. Then put the bars exactly the same height as the numbers. So that is how you make a Bar Graph.

Hurumanu Maths

Hi,
In Hurumanu maths we have learnt about Tally chart, Bar
graph. So In maths we have to find our partner to work with then we need to have a pen. The Tally chart were you put 4 lines then the fifth one is were you crossed it. After the teacher explained that we wen't at the side of the road to see how many cars in Black, White, Silver, Green and other colours so we have to do a Tally chart so what we have done is  one person saying what is the colour of the cars that are coming then he will say the colour of the Silver car and then we have to put one line in the tally chart in the silver column. After that we count all of the cars together and wrote it at the side of the paper like in the silver column there is a 30 cars that are silver the n we have wrote down 30. Then on the next column we have to count all of the white cars. Then we will add all the cars together and it will add up to 100 maybe or not.

Bar graph so we also use Bar graph to make it easier in Bar graph we have to find what cars has the highest number then if it is 30 we have to count in fives so it will be like 5, 10, 15, 20. and then we have to draw the bars in like white that passed by where 20 then we have to draw the bar at the exact same height as the number 20
then it will be much easier to find what is the most highest number of the colour of the car. The Bargraph has also the same size but not the same height.

I hope you like my blog post that I have made and I also hope that you learnt something.

Hurumanu

Hi,
So In Hurumanu 1 we have watched a video about the early Polynesian people. The Maori people arrived from Hawaiki. The clip that we watched tells us that the early Polynesian people used waka/ boat to travel from Island to Island so they travelled from the Phillipines, Taiwan and lots of other Islands that are close by. In the video they say that some of the Maori even travelled to America.

So the early Maori people that came to NZ in waka, they brought their pets like their dogs and rats. So in the early days people ate Moa so the Moa is became extinct very quickly because they only laid eggs once or twice a year and also the rats and dogs ate their eggs, so they got extinct very quickly. People also used Moa feathers to warm their body because they were cold.

The Moriori are the same kind as the Moari people because they found evidence that prove's that they were the same kind. The evidence that they have found is the Language, the DNA and the Skeleton. That is how they knew that they were that same kind. The Moriori in the early days are from the Chatham Islands. They were Pacifists and they banned cannabalism (eating people).

If you did not know what this words means, so the Whanau means family members, the hapu means a tribe like a village. The Rangitara is like the leader so they are like the king or lords and they make important decisions.

I hope you like my blog post and also learnt something about this blog post.

Stop Motion

Hi,
We did the Art Stop Motion and we were in groups in each group there are 3, 4 or 5 group members in each group. So we have to help each other in our group we shared a few Ideas for what we are going to do. When an adult is not watching I still continue the task that the teacher has given us.

Art

Hi,
This blog post is about Art. In art we have been making a script for our animation so each of us in the same group we have to write a script about the stop motion that we are going to do. We have done our script in a google doc that's why it is easy to find a not messy. Also we can share it to our group members. here is the Script that I have made so far but this script not quite done yet because sometimes we don't have enough time to do the writing here is the writing that I have made I hope you like it here it is.

It all started in a city in January 14, 3018 a group of people went boating and got lost in the sea. After a few minutes the sky got dark in the sky so it started raining heavily. Then a huge wave was coming towards us and it splash right through us and we pass out in the middle of the sea. When the group of people woke up they got into an Island and they never know about it and it was kind of new. So when they all woke up there was only two people. The two people who survive in the crash is ( Adam, Jimmy )
Adam- Adam is a person who lives in a town that is called THE CANYON the place that you can’t see any canyon.
Jimmy- Jimmy lives in a city where people go always and gets crowded he lives in the city that is called
So there was only two of them in the Island they were figuring out how to get out of the Island so they help each other to get out of the Island so one day. They decided to make about that’s why they can get out of the Island. So they spend their life hunting for some food like a pig and cook it. Also make fire out of wood to cook the pig so they eat that pig they shared the food together they build a shelter that is made out of wood so they don’t get cold at night. So first of all, they cut down so many trees and cut it in half and stack the woods together. After a few days they finish the house. So they were walking around the Island then they saw a lion and face eagle it was flying around the volcano the face was black the eyes were red, The body was yellow. Then they came up with a name the name is Trigel but after they came up with the name. Trigel so Adam and Jimmy, So Trigel chase both of them and when trigel was getting closer he was getting bigger and bigger. So Adam and Jimmy found a tiny hole at the side were Trigel can’t fit. So Jimmy and Adam jump right through the hole but then there was a problem Trigel can also change its size so Trigel got smaller than Adam and Jimmy. But Trigel was just trying to be friends with both of them. So they were just calm and took Trigel and the shelter were Adam and Jimmy live for now. A few days later they started making bout to go home in the city so they use some of their spare woods to make there bout. They finally finish the boat so they decided to go home but they were worried about Trigel. So they took him with them to the city so they hide Trigel in a cloth because he can also shrink and get small. So they lived happily ever after there in the Island.

Water Cycle

 Hi,

This term we continued our water cycle in science from last term. Then we all answered the questions all together in the mat. Then we keep writing down the answer in our blogs after we have done it we have to show it into a teacher. So this is the blog post that we have done

AIM: TO LOOK AT THE WATER CYCLE AND HOW CLIMATE CHANGE IS AFFECTING IT.

Definition:

A green box with icons and white text. Text reads: Where is Earth's Water? 96.5 percent is in the oceans; 1.7 percent is in lakes, rivers, streams, and soil; 1.7 percent is in polar ice caps, glaciers, and permanent snow; 0.001 percent is in water vapor in Earth's atmosphere

Scientific words:

  • Evaporation. When water is heated by radiant energy it turns into water vapor.
  • Transpiration. Evaporation from plants.
  • Condensation. When water vapor cools, molecules join together and form clouds.
  • Precipitation. When clouds get heavy the waters falls as rain, sleet, hail, or snow.
  • Acidification: the action or process of making or becoming acidic.

We will be conducting an experiment that looks at the different ways that climate change is affecting the water cycle.
An illustration of the water cycle showing how water travels from rivers and streams to clouds to snow and back again

THE WATER CYCLE EXPERIMENT

Bag 1: Normal Water cycle
Bag 2: Water cycle with CO2 added: like Oceans in climate change
Bag 3: Water cycle with ice added: like Antarctica in climate change

Material:

  1.  Water
  2.  Bag
  3.  Soda water
  4.   Food colouring
  5.  Litmus Paper
  6. Vivid
  7. Sand

Steps:

  1. Get the vivid and the bag
  2. Draw the water cycle outside the bag
  3. Then put one cup of water or Soda water
  4. After that put two drops of food colouring
  5. Put a litmus paper hanging inside the bag and don't get it wet
  6. Hang the bag against the window to get sunlight and starts to condense

Two Images:

Findings:

The Water Cycle: Bag 1
CO2 Water Cycle: Bag 2
Acid
Desert Water Cycle
Bag 3
Does it cycle?
Yes YesYes
Amount of Water
222
Acidity
131

Key: Water and acidity amount: 1 = none
2 = small
3 = large

Other comments:

1: Bag 1 cycled water.
2: Bag 1 had a small  amount of water
3: The acidity in the Bag It was low
4: Bag 2 has a Acid
5: The Amount of was small
6: The Acidity was Large
7: Bag 3 Has sand
8: The amount of water was small
9: The Acidity was large.

Conclusion:

In the Bag 1 the Cycled water has a small amount of water and the acidity was low. The Bag 2 has a acid and it is different from the first one. The amount of water was small and the acidity of it was very large because we have put soda in it. The Bag 3 was a sand and the amount of water is small the acidity was large.

Draw a labelled diagram of the Water Cycle

Water cycle words:
  1. Precipitation
  2. Hurricanes
  3. Acid rain
  4. Evaporation
  5. Carbon Dioxide
  6. Water
  7. Defirestation
  8. Water vapour
  9. Transpiration
  10. Flooding

TODAY YOU WILL BE INVESTIGATING THE EFFECTS THAT CLIMATE CHANGE HAS ON THE WATER CYCLE.

  1. Using your SOLO hexagons poster write a paragraph about the different aspects of climate change.
  2. Write about the following Climate Change concepts:
You can do these by powerpoint, embedding a movie , on your blog, on a doc or any other form of presentation. It is up to you.

Art Hurumanu

Hi,
Last term and this term we have been doing Art in our Hurumanu. In Hurumanu we are in a groups in each groups there is five of us working together. So all of the other groups including our group we have to choose what we are going to do so the choices are Clay and White board. Our groups choose to do clay so what are we doing with the clay. So we are making some Stop Motion made out of clay and making a person, creatures, plants and other things. So last term this is what my group and I have made so far.

This third Term we have been still working in our clay and we continued it and we added some bits and pieces in our character.
After that we made trees and other things. So we painted some backgrounds for our filming we painted a card board were we are going to start the film so we started the film in the middle of the ocean. Then we painted the ocean blue. Then on the other side of the ocean there is Pink ocean. So that is what we have made so far I hope you like what we have made.

Our Next step is to finish our Island because that is the story's main place.

Descriptive writing

Hi,
This week in Hurumanu music we have a made a theme song. Then write about it in our blog so we are writing about a place that we imagine when we listen to the theme song that we have made. But the writing that we have we are not going to write that we have made the song. Here is the writing that I have done in Hurumanu music I hope you like it.

Descriptive writing
-27.5.19
L:O Create a piece of writing that describes a place or setting
inspired by your song.

People were playing wooden and string instruments and it was really loud like a thunder in the sky.
At the end it was starting to be relaxing like sleeping at night and the bass was amazing, it was like a
famous theme melody. Then when it was almost the end the theme melody was getting higher and
higher and the clouds turned grey and it started to rain. The rain hits the roof really loud like hail, it was
in the tune of the drum. When the melody was starting over again the clouds spread out in the sky then
the theme melody started over again then the sun came out with a bright afternoon. The grass dried,
birds are chirping and it was a relaxing afternoon. The bell rang loudly and I had to go back to class.

Kio Rahi

Hi,
This is the blog post about the Kio Rahi rules and how to play it here is the rules and the tools here it is I hope you play Kio Rahi.

It has two teams and two (tupu big drum)  14 poles because in each side there is 7 poles and also o
ne tupu in each side. When we started playing Kio Rahi we had six team the all team
names is Dragons, Pandas, Lions, Wolves, Hornets,Shooting Star. There are teams
competing each other the team names are Kioma and Taniwha.

When we set up the Kio rahi you put the 7 poles in each team so you use the poles to get a point if you are
the team that are defending the tupu. If you are the team that is scoring you have to hit the tupu to get a score.
In the game you can only get touch twice and you turn over the ball to the other team. You can also run if you
only got
touch ones.In each team you also need 7 players in each team to be fair.

Songs 2000 to 1900

Hi,
Today in Hurumanu Music we search up some songs in google to put it in our slides. But we have to work with a partner that's why we can finish it very quickly. The slides that we have made is about the songs from 1900 to 2000. Here is the slides that we have made I hope you like it and also comment.
