Cultural Kete

Hi,

In cultural kete what wen't well was for me and my group was finishing the work that we have done what we did is some research about the culture that we have done like me I did Filipino culture research about the Filipino games that we started doing in my group. We created our presentation in a slideshow and shared it with each other and each of us put one game each and did a research on it. We also created an artwork for fun that represent our culture the Philippines.

We also started playing the games first invited our friends to play it and it was so fun because there were so many people playing as we played along some people joined in our game and it was more fun because there was more people.

What didn't go so well and why? What didn't go so well that some group member weren't at school so there were least of us so I think it got a bit harder because we have to continue the work with least people.

If I was to do this again what I do differently? Maybe we I will pick something easier to research about because some information were hard to find in google here is the presentation that we have made.

ESOL

 Hi,

At the moment I came into my ESOL class my teacher suddenly started reading she did not say that she was going to read a book/give a heads-up that she was going to read. She was reading quietly then the whole class was quietly listening to her.

The story started from a boy named Noah I think he was the main character of the story because even do the story just started. He also has two brothers and both of his parents Noah wanted to become a photographer and he also already had use his fathers camera at age 13. Noah and his family already went to Kenya 5 times. Our teacher also did not tell us the name of the book.

I think what the story is going to be about is that Noah became the best photographer in his country and being supported by his whole family his brothers and parents.

Life in the Medieval

 Hi,

In Hurumanu 2 we have to write a few sentences about what was the life like in the Medieval. So what I think the life was is that they kill people they torture them. What I think happened is that they only torture people when they wan't to make them confess about something that they are hiding from them. How do they torture people? They torture people by putting them into a Pillory after they put people in the Pillory they put them outside were lots of people past by so other people can throw things such as Potatoes, Tomatoes some people throw rocks and they make the people bleed. The other kinds of torture they do is a kind of bed but it has ropes at both side for the wrist and the foot it is called the Torture Rack. What they do to make people confess is they tie both two feet and two wrist. After that they pull all the ropes at the same time but they pull it in the opposite direction. The Catherine Wheel is also a tool that they use to torture. How did they use this? They put the person along the side of the wheel and tied them or even nailed them to make them not fall off. What they do is they spin the person and spin that would make them dizzy at the same time there feet are hurting and their hands because it has been tied or nailed on to the wheel. The last torture tool that they use is called the Iron Chair I think it is the most dangerous one that they ever made because the chair has spikes on them. What they do is tie the people and make them sit on the chair and there whole body will have holes in them.

ESOL Week 8

 Hi,

In ESOL the first thing that we did was to go into our groups because the teacher gave us numbers before we came in to the class. Then we started finding our group members and go to a table together. The activity that we have done is called HOT POTATO. What we did was have a sheet of paper and each person in the group will have a piece of paper then we have to write one word on the sheet of paper and then past it to the next person that is in our right side. Then when we get the next paper we had to add another one word because each time a paper comes you have to add one word. After a few minutes it started making sentences but when we read it it didn't make sense at all. So what we have done is to fix the writing and remake it so it make sense.

Is doing some quizes in ESOL because I think it is fun because we get to be in groups and I like doing quizes because we do lots of team  work together and think together in our groups. Maybe nextime in ESOL we could do some more fun stuff like doing a kahoot or quizlet live.

Short story

 Hi,

In ESOL the things that were challenging was doing a short story using the words that we never heard or seen before. So the teacher wrote 3 words at the board the 3 words were ( Contemplate, Courageous and Cornucopia ) Even when the task was hard it was still fun because I got to learn new words and make story out of it. The second challenging part was writing 150 words up and you can't write less than that so I think that was challenging for me do you think writing a story using words that you didn't know before is easy or hard.

PE Athletics

Hi,

In PE we have did some Athletics practices like High Jump, Long Jump, Discus, Shotput and 100 Metres sprint. So first what we did was Shotput was really hard because you need to throw it properly and you have to throw the ball beside your cheek and push the ball. A tecnique that I have learned in Shotput was bend your legs to get more power at throwing. The record that I got in Shotput was 9.8 metres.

In Discus I have thrown 23 metres and the technique that I have learned is holding the discus with your fingers not with your palm. In Long Jump I Jump 4.48 metres and in High Jump I got 1.30 metres the technique I have learned that You need to jump with your left leg if you are jumping from the right side and if you are jumping from the left side you have to jump with your right leg. In 100 Metres sprint I got 15 seconds and I have learned using the blocks to the start and we learned how to use them properly.

Shot Put ( 9.8 Metres )

Discus ( 23 metres )

Long Jump ( 4.48 Metres )

High Jump  ( 1.30 Metres )

100Metres Sprint ( 15 sec )

In PE I have brought my PE gear everytime we have PE.

What are the symptoms? The symptoms is Joint pain, Stiffness, Inflammation in and around the joints, Warm red skin.

What causes it? Arthritis starts when you have a caused by a fault in the immune system that causes the body to attack its own tissues in the joints.

What can help it? Pain killer it reduces your pain or Nonsteroidal anti-inflammaratory drugs that can reduce both pain and in inflammation.

Is cracking your fingers bad  for you? I think cracking your fingers is not bad and it doesn't cause your arthritis to make your knuckles larger.

Google Spreadsheat graph

Hi,
In maths we have learnt how to put graphs, charts in our devices and also others so the teacher's teach us how to put it in our Chromebook. So first you have to open google spreadsheet.

Then you have to write the title colours or food. Then wright what colour it is or foods then wright down the numbers the opposite side of where you wrote down the colours so it is like this in a photo.

After that you have highlight all of the things that you have wrote down in the google spreadsheat like this. So you have to use your mouse to highlight the whole thing because if you don't they wouldn't know that you already made something for the graphs or for the charts.

Then after you highlight the colours and the numbers you have to press with your mouse a small button it shapes like a graph it looks like this. You can find this little thing at the top side left side of the google spreadsheat.

After you press that it would look like this it would come up with a pie chart so you could change that by pressing this little button it says pie chart.

Then you could pick anything like bar graph and pie chart after you press the button then it will show you what you can use it would look like this. So after you pick a graph or a chart it would look like this and you are done making a graph or a chart.

Structure of Seeds

Hi,
In Hurumanu 3 we have made a report about seeds so we research about seeds and we put it all
together in a document. We also search up the meaning of some words we have done this because
we are going to grow foods in our Hurumanu 3 here is the research that I have done.

Structure of seeds ( what its made of )
Image result for Structure of seeds
The seed consists of three components: embryo, endosperm (sometimes perisperm), and seed-coat.
Both endosperm and embryo are the products of double fertilization, whereas the seed-coat develops
from the maternal, ocular tissues. The seed habit is a significant advancement in the evolution of higher
plants.

The seed has 3 elements The beginning of the seed, The part of the seed which acts as a food store  and aseed coat. Both the endosperm and the beginning of the seed are given a twice fertilization.

What does a seed need to germinate ? Seed needs water, oxygen and a proper temperature.
Tell us the meaning of root, shoot and Germinate
Root means the part of plant that are planted in the ground
Shoot means it sprouts out on the ground

Germinate means beginning to grow.

Te Tiriti O Waitangi

Hi,
In Hurumanu 1 we have done a note taking while were watching the video so the teachers gave us a piece of paper to write down the notes but there is also questions that we have to answer so here is the note that I have written on the piece of paper.

Did you know that the Maori's population in the late 1830's and 70 to 80,000 Maori people and that is the population of Maori. The population also dropped down because of the of the virus that other people from other countries brought to New Zealand so they had diseases.

The name's of the main settlements in the town in New Zealand are Kororareka and in English is Russel. Also in the early days when the Missionaries were there they weren't happy because the people in the town was selling Alcohols to other people to get drunk.

Also in the early days the British people saw that france was a threat because they wanted to take over New Zealand to gain more money In 1833 the people set up a United Tribe of New Zealand. If you did not know who set up the New Zealand company it is Edward Gabin there plans was to create a New Zealand company.

When they were signing the treaty the British people send Hobson to sign the treaty to be fair with Maori people. If you wanted to know how many Maori People signed the treaty there was like around 500 Maori people signed the treaty.Do you know how did the paper of treaty been rip and look wet it is because of the rats the chewed the treaty and also burned it on fire also got thrown in the rubbish bin.

Did you know the translation of the treaty to English was different because the Maori people saying like they were happy but in the English translation they are angry to the British people. Tino Rangatirangata means that they thought they have a self authority in the government. If you also don't know sovereignty it mean s Having a control all over the country. The Kawanatanga mean Governorship.

Do you know that the Maori people believe that the British people would have control all over the country of New Zealand. Do you know who is Hone Heke he is the one who showed his frustration he cut of the British people flag 3 times and also burned the whole town of the British people.

Do you know that the Maori People use methods to beat the British Army in the Northern War they use Loogs, trenches, screens too slowdown the enemy and musket to shoot the enemy that are close to them. They also build a underground bunker so other Maori people would be safe.

Te Tiriti O Waitangi

Hi,
In Hurumanu 1 we have mad a DLO in Te Titriti O Waitangi group. So I have made an animation that shows you how the maori people arrived in the New Zealand. So we also have to answer some questions here are the questions that we have to answer. The question are What did I already know about Te Tiriti O Waitangi so I said that it is about the day of the treaty was singed in 1840 February 6. The Maori people wanted a treaty because people from around the world are buying big lands in New Zealand that's why they decided that they wanted a treaty. What was wrongly translated in Te Tiriti O Waitangi the treaty was the one that was wrongly translated because the words that they had written was transleted wrongly in British english. The last questions is Explain how the treaty made a better life for maori or worse for maori. Here is the slide show animation that I have made I hope you like it.
