In our Social Studies we learned about Human Rights, What I learnt on this activity is giving all the people rights to vote. What was challenging was finishing of the activity because I was doing a poster and it was kind of hard because it took me really long time making this poster. Trolley

 Hi,

In ESOL we firstly red a book called Trolley, then we needed to answer a few questions about the story that we needed to answer. What we learned about the story is that money doesn't buy everything and being grateful what you have. In our last activity we have to pick a person and write the story from their point of View. So I pick a person and it is a kid named Hoani the story is about them receiving a home made gift for Christmas here is the writing that I have done.

It was School Holidays because it was almost Christmas me and my sister wanted to stay up late at night because we don't have school but our mum wanted us to sleep early we don't even know why she want's us to sleep early. Me and my sister mumbled why mum wanted us to go to sleep early it took us so long to sleep because it was still early to sleep for Christmas Eve. When we woke up our mum told us that we have a present out by the steps we I couldn't say anything I was speechless me and my sister jumped in straight on the Trolley and wen't down the ramp it was so fun and our friends started comming and having turns using the Trolley, after a few hours of playing and playing we told are mum to get on the Trolley and she went down the ram speeding.

 

The Springbok Tour Protest

In English we needed to read a short story and answer a few questions and the Title of the story is The Springbok Tour Protest here is what I have done.

1.) What is another word for apartheid?  

Discrimination and Racism.

2.) Why did the protester need helmets? 

It is because the police used special long Baton to hit the protesters.

3.) Why was Hamilton rugby game cancelled?

The Hamilton game was cancelled because of the hundreds of anti-tour protesters occupied the field chanting.

4.) Why do you think being called honorary whites upset the Maori All Blacks?

It is because they don't like being called hononary whites they only want to represent their country.

5.) Do you think this protest was successful? Why? Why not?

I think the protest was successful because All Blacks today are still continuing playing rugby.

6.) How do you think the New Zealand protest helped Nelson Mandela>

I think it helped Nelson Mandela to think what he was gonna do when he becomes the presidents

Effect of Heat

 Hi,

In Chemistry we needed to make our final blog post this term and write about the things that we have learned.

Contraction - ( Imploding Can )
What happened to the imploding can was when we heated the can and boiled the water inside the can. Is that the heat diffused through out the can and each particles of the can vibrated that's what made the can spreaded its heat. Then the particles of the can also made the warm water vibrated that us way it boiled.
Then we grabbed an ice cream container and put cold water in the container. Then we grabbed the can with boiling water inside and tipped the can over to the cold water inside the container, and the hot and cold water contracted to each other then the can imploded.
The contraction means is a process of getting smaller, tighter and shorter.

Expansion - ( Ball and Hop )
What we did in Ball and Hoop experiment is that we grabbed the hoot and the ball then we tried to put the ball through the hoot and it fitted through the hoop. When we heated the ball for 30 seconds and tried again if the ball still fits through the hoop and the ball didn't fit through.
How did the ball fit through the hoop at the first time and after heating it up it didn't fit it is because the tiny particles of the ball expanded while it was heating up that is why it didn't fit through the hoop again. How did we made it fit again? We put the hot ball on a cold running water and it got back to normal and it fitted through the hoop and again.
Expansion means the action of becoming larger or more extensive.

Conduction ( Dropping pin )
What happened to the Dropping pin was when we heated the metal rod it conduct/ the heat travelled quickly, and the vibration of the heat travelled through out the metal rod and heat the Vaseline and the pins so the pins dropped on the table. What happened was when we heated the metal rod it conduct/ the heat travelled quickly, and the vibration of the heat travelled through out the metal rod and heat the Vaseline and the pins so the pins dropped on the table.

Convection in liquid ( permanganate crystal in water )
What we did to this experiment is that we heated one side of the can and put the straw from the opposite side of the fire. Then we dropped the tiny crystal through the straw's hole and let it slide to get to the water, what happened was the crystal diffused throughout the water.
Convection means is the movement caused within a fluid by the tendency of hotter and therefore less dense material to rise, and colder, denser material to sink under the influence of gravity, which consequently results in transfer of heat.

Convection in Gas ( Tea Bag Rockets )
What we did in Tea Bag Rocket experiment is we cutted the top bit of the tea bag and pour the tea leaves out, then we spreaded out the tea bag and cut the top part again but this time we have to make the top part is equally aligned. After that we turned the tea bag around and put the top bit to the bottom to make it stand up, then we lighted the tea bag and it flew up wards.

In English we needed to write a speech and my speech is about ( Students would learn more if school started at 10 AM ) and we needed to pick which side, Agree or Disagree so I pick disagree here is the planning sheet that we have done.

Social Studies

 Hi,

In Social Studies we are doing some elections in groups, what we did was we needed to make some logo's for our party, slogan to attract peoples attention and a speech that's why people will know what we are doing. 

The name of our political party is Go Green because we want to make the environment clean that is why my whole group agreed to the political name. We also made a slogan it is ( THINK FOR THE FUTURE ) after we made our slogan we planned to create our logo because without a logo we wouldn't be able to attract peoples attention so we started making one. Then we created 5 policies for our political party here is the activity that we have done.
